This week bird news from Škocjanski zatok – 21.9.2012

On regular weekly bird monitoring in Škocjanski zatok Nature Reserve today (21.9.2012), 58 species of birds were counted or 853 specimen.

The most intereresting species observed:

  • Common Pochard (Aythya ferina)  – 4 specimen
  • Pygmy Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmeus) – 3specimen
  • Hobby (Falco subbuteo) – 1 specimen
  • Little Crake (Porzana parva) – 1 specimen
  • Dunlin (Calidris alpina) – 3 specimen
  • Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio) – 1 specimen
  • Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) – 1 specimen
  • Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra) – 2 specimen
  • Tree Pipit (Anthus trivialis) – 4 specimen
  • Sand Martin (Riparia riparia) – 30 specimen

 

Other intereresting species observed:

  • Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) – 3 specimen
  • Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) – 20 specimen
  • Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata) – 2 specimen
  • Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) – 3 specimen
  • Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) – 1 specimen
  • Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) – 1 specimen
  • Greenshank  (Tringa nebularia) – 13 specimen
  • Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) – 4 specimen
  • Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) – 2 specimen
  • Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) – 2 specimen
  • Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava) – 2 specimen
  • Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) – 2 specimen

The most numerous were Common Coot (Fulica atra – 185 specimen) and Common Teals (Anas crecca – 95 specimen).

The most intereresting species observed on regular weekly bird monitoring in Škocjanski zatok Nature Reserve:

  1. Broad-billed Sandpiper (Limicola falcinellus)  1 specimen
  2. Grasshopper Warbler (Locustella naevia)
  3. Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica)
  4. Great Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula)
  5. Grey Plover (Pluvialis squatarola )
  6. Dunlin (Calidris alpina)

Other intereresting species observed:

  • Wryneck (Jynx torquilla)
  • Sand Martin (Riparia riparia)
  • Tree Pipit(Anthus trivialis) 
  • Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra)
  • Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe)
  • Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus)
  • Garden Warbler (Sylvia borin)
  • Common Whitethroat (Sylvia communis)
